Return-to-Training Coaching in London

Old knees, an unhappy back, or a long gap since you last trained are inputs to the programme, not reasons to stop. Train around your history and build back stronger.

The goal

A joint that complains in certain positions, a back that has flared before, or years away from training are not reasons to avoid the gym. They are exactly what a personalised programme is built around.

After 18 years coaching the over-40 body, I strengthen the muscles that support each vulnerable joint, work the ranges the joint actually has, and progress from there. Where a client is under the care of a physiotherapist or specialist, I coach alongside that team. This is a personal training service, not medical treatment, but it is training that respects your history.

What gets in the way

  • A long gap since you last trained, leaving strength and capacity reduced
  • Old injuries — knees, backs, shoulders — that generic programmes load badly
  • Returning after physiotherapy with no structured plan to rebuild capacity
  • Desk-based posture shortening hips and loading the lower back
  • Past attempts that pushed too hard, too soon, and triggered a flare

Common
questions

Can I train if I have an old injury?

In most cases, yes — training around a stable, long-standing issue is often exactly what helps. We strengthen the muscles supporting the joint and work within the ranges you have. If something is acute or under active physiotherapy, we wait or coordinate with your clinician first.

I am returning after a long break — where do we start?

We start with a free assessment of where you are today — movement, strength, and any history that matters. From there I build a programme that rebuilds capacity progressively, so you return to training confidently rather than picking up where an old routine left off and risking a setback.

Do you work with my physiotherapist?

Yes. Where a client has a current injury, a medical condition, or a Harley Street or specialist referral, I coach alongside their medical team and stay within my scope. I provide personal training, not medical advice — but I will always work with, not against, the guidance you have been given.
