The short answer
What this is
One-to-one coaching is more than supervised exercise. It is a single plan that brings strength, mobility, conditioning, and lifestyle guidance together, applied in real time by a coach with 18 years behind people over 40. Each session starts from where you are today. Most clients I work with are between 40 and 65, so recovery, joint history, and staying capable for decades shape the programme from the first session.
Your first session is free, and it is a genuine assessment rather than a sales conversation. We talk through your training history and goals, take a brief practical look at how you move and where your strength sits, and you leave knowing whether the programme fits. If it does, we go from there.

How it works
What to expect
Getting started
Wear standard training clothing and trainers, and bring a water bottle. Come ready to talk through your training history, goals, and any injuries or constraints so the programme can be built around your real starting point. There is nothing to complete beforehand — the free first session is the assessment.
During your sessions
After your sessions
Each session ends with a clear sense of what was worked and why, and the programme adapts as your capacity builds. We review progress at agreed intervals rather than chasing a peak that drops the moment a block ends, so change is sustainable across years.

FAQ
Common
questions
Do I need to be fit before I start 1-2-1 training?
No. The first session is free precisely so you can come as you are. Whether you have not trained for years or are returning after an injury, we measure where you are today and build a programme that matches your current capacity. The aim is to meet you, not benchmark you against an idealised standard.
How are over-40 fitness needs different?
Recovery slows, joints carry more accumulated history, and metabolism shifts. The principle does not change — progressive overload still drives adaptation — but the dose, recovery, and exercise selection do. Most over-40 clients benefit from more strength and mobility work, less high-intensity volume, and longer recovery between heavy sessions than they did at thirty.
Where do 1-2-1 sessions take place?
Across three private members' gyms: UNTIL Soho (111 Charing Cross Road), UNTIL Marylebone (1 Orchard Street), and UNTIL Liverpool Street (280 Bishops Square). All three have full equipment, showers, and changing facilities. You can choose the site that fits your work and commute, and switch between them as your schedule changes.
What does a typical session look like?
Sessions run between 45 and 60 minutes. We start with a brief warm-up and mobility, follow with the main strength or conditioning work, and finish with any accessory or recovery work the day calls for. Form, breathing, and effort are coached in real time, and you leave with a clear sense of progress.
How often should I train each week?
It depends on your goals, your recovery, and the time you can realistically commit. For most over-40 clients, two well-structured sessions a week drive steady progress while leaving room to recover. We agree a frequency at the assessment that fits your life, and adjust it as your capacity builds rather than fixing it in advance.
